The Obvious:

Memory Map have released the new Memory Map Adventurer 2800 GPS which has a 2.8" high resolution touch screen display. In fact the resolution, at 96,000 pixels (400 x 240) is the best in the market. This weatherproof and rugged handheld GPS device fits perfectly in the hand and tracks your positioning on detailed topographical maps. It comes with OS Landranger British National Parks (1:50K) and an extra bonus 10,000km2 of Digital Map Shop credits, allowing you to choose your own areas of mapping in Great Britain within the 10,000km2 radius.

What makes the Memory Map Adventurer 2800 so great is that people who already have Memory Map software can use it on this device. And as we all know, Memory Map allow you to plot routes, print maps, transfer tracks and waypoints using your computer, as opposed to only being able to use the device on competitor units.

It is powered using a Lithium Polymer rechargeable battery which provides 8 hours use.

The Memory Map 2800 GPS device is super lightweight, coming in at only 135g including batteries. You would expect that such a lightweight navigation device would lack quality in other areas but the housing is made using high quality plastics and materials. We are very pleased with the Adventurer 2800's build quality.

Delightful discovery:

It is clear that Memory Map have thought this through properly and have now delivered a fantastic GPS device. However we thought we would save the best for last. The Memory Map Adventurer 2800 has an unbelievably fast processor and refresh rate. Simply turn it on and you can scroll around even the most detailed maps and there is no load time. It moves seamlessly with an almost instant refresh rate. Even the big GPS manufacturers out there struggle with refresh rates which is when you move across the map and part of it doesn't appear instantly. The Memory Map 2800 Adventurer loads immediately. To say we were impressed would be an understatement.

So how have they got the refresh rates to almost instant? Well Memory Map has been working on Pocket PCs since 2001 so the map image display algorithms they use have been honed over many years of development to make zooming and scaling the map faster than anything else out there...bold claims but try one for yourself and you'll see the difference!
