What is Loving Earth? |
10 things we're doing |
|
|
With enjoyment of the outdoors comes a responsibility towards Earth. Loving Earth is our effort towards conserving the natural environment, not just by reducing waste but also by helping the world's most deprived people. Currently we are involved in building schools in Malawi and visited the country in 2011 to meet with community and charity leaders heading up the project. Loving Earth is our contribution towards finding a sustainable solution to the problems facing the Earth- both the natural environment and its people . The FutureLoving Earth is a big part of our motivation for launching Loving Outdoors and we plan to use it to effect positive change. Our plans include... |
1) Reducing use of unneccesary packaging 2) Working with ethical brands 3) Supported build of school in Africa 4) Disposing of batteries and electricals correctly 5) Raising money through our 'Grassed Up Van' 6) Lowering Co2 from our Manchester HQ 7) Monthly product deals - 100% profits to charity 8) Annually donating % profits to charities in UK 9) Providing placements for International students 10) Supporting customer causes & charities |

Good Hope School, Malawi
More coming
The story so far...
When we launched Loving Outdoors in 2009 we got involved with a charity called Reaper Minitries owned and run by Richard Trotter. Richard, who happens to be Scott's uncle in-law, has dedicated the last 5 years to the charity taking absolutely nothing as a salary. So we know every penny goes to the cause.
We have helped to finance their first project which was to build a school in a remote village in Malawi. The Good Hope School currently gives children in the village access to education where opportunities would otherwise not exist. The school also has now been fitted with a fresh water supply and is looking to provide children with breakfast. Two things that seem normal in the UK but are seen as luxuries some parts of Malawi.
Scott, Loving Outdoors Founder, visited the school in 2011 with the Reaper Ministries team. They are still facing huge challenges financially so if you would like to sponsor a child please contact hello@lovingoutdoors.com and we can send you the relevant forms. Even just a few pounds a month can make a huge difference.
We are still providing ongoing support and hope to start the next project in 2012 - building a hospital. Currently one hospital with four nurses serves 180,000 people. So they really need another.

The GUVThe origins of the name are obscure. Some claim it stands for ‘Green Utility Vehicle’, others say ‘Grassed Up Van’ and some straw-clutching eccentrics have even suggested ‘Giant Unilamellar Vesicles’. Maybe there’s little truth in all the above...to us The GUV is simply The GUV. The GUV is The GUV is The GUV. Though spectacular in grass-clad appearance, the most important thing about The GUV are its purpose. The Loving Outdoors team will visit festivals and outdoor events across the country to be on hand with advice, tips and freebies. But more importantly we will be raising money for charity by selling hot tea and sandwiches with all proceeds going to Loving Earth. Read more about The GUV. |
WEEE & BatteriesWe have registered to be members of The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive which was set up in 2007. Waste going into landfill is increasing by 5% each year which is a big worry. To help combat this, we are willing to accept your trash, which we will dispose of correctly. This might be an old watch, GPS or other electrical device or even batteries. |
PackagingWe believe it is important to reduce unnecessary packaging where we can because too often products come delivered wrapped in plastic, cardboard and paper. It might look pretty but it is very wasteful. |
