The new Garmin Forerunner 210 & 410 Review and Comparison

BUY Garmin Forerunner 210 & Garmin Forerunner 410Garmin Forerunner 410 & Garmin Forerunner 210

It’s typical, you wait ages for a new Garmin GPS-Enabled running watch, and three come along at once! We’re not complaining about these beauties though: the Garmin Forerunner 210 (HRM), the Garmin Forerunner 410 (HRM) and the Garmin Forerunner 410 (Non-HRM) are here, and all three are absolutely awesome. If you’re looking to get fit, or have used the Garmin range of GPS sports watches before, then I’m sure you’re as excited as we are.

The Forerunner 210 is an incredible fitness watch: a high sensitivity GPS receiver tracks your position and measures distance travelled, and an incredibly accurate heart rate monitor gives beats per minute readings with sophisticated heart rate calorie computation. With a super easy to use interface, the IPx7 waterproof rating, loads of customizable training options and the ability to track, analyse and share all your data on Garmin Connect, you have everything you need to really push your workouts and start to do some serious training. The 210 is also compatible with a foot pod, so you can utilise these great features in the gym as well.

See for yourself…

The Forerunner 410 takes all the features of the 210 and pushes them way further. If the 210 is a fitness machine, then the 410 is like your very own fitness centre! The enhanced touch bezel interface is brilliant, and makes negotiating the data screens a real joy even when you’re running at high speeds. It’s basically like the circular control of an iPod, which you use to scroll through the various menus and select you options. The 410 lets you customize up to three different training pages with over 40 types of data, so you can display whatever information you like on a really fantastic hi-resolution screen. What the 410 truly adds though, and what the serious runners out there have been waiting for an expecting, is the advanced workout support. You can create detailed custom goal oriented workouts, simple workouts, it has pace alerts that let you know if you pace is slipping, as well as time/distance alerts. It’s Garmin Fitness Centre compatible, has the Virtual Partner feature that lets you race against previous runs in the form of a figure on the screen, the Courses features that lets you race against completed courses, and it also has Auto Lap, Auto Pause and Auto Scroll! Added to this is wireless data transfer between the watch and the computer, so it really is a sophisticated piece of equipment. There are two versions of the 410- one comes complete with Garmin’s Premium Heart Rate Monitor, the other is the non-HRM version, for those who feel they don’t need to measure their heart rate.

Both the 210 and 410 have customizable heart rate zones that alert you when you heart rate drops and advanced heart rate based calorie computation, a sophisticated and extremely accurate system. They also both feature the interval training which lets you set up regulated intervals into your runs.

The new Forerunners look absolutely fantastic- a super sleek and lightweight, slim design means you’ll barely feel them on your wrist, and they’re both ready to use straight out of the box.

For some it might be a shame that the 210 doesn’t have the advanced training features of the 410, but still, the 210 is an incredible fitness watch that can really transform your workouts. For the more serious runners out there, the Forerunner 410 has it all, and gives you everything you need to create an intense fitness regime that will push even the most experienced athletes to the limit!
