Garmin have done it again with the Forerunner 405CX Sports Watch which has in built GPS allowing you to track your position anywhere in the world. Its super accurate GPS then relays information to the Garmin Forerunner 405CX Sports Watch so you can instantly check your distance travelled (miles or km), heart rate, calories burnt, pace and much more. If you would prefer to view this data on a larger screen, you can easily transfer it to your computer. The Forerunner 405CX Sports Watch comes with the Garmin Training Centre software and the new wireless USB Ant stick. Just plug the USB into the computer and like magic the information on your run will appear on the computer screen. You can then compare this to other people online, to your previous runs or even that of a partners (if they have used the watch too).
The Forerunner 405CX Sports Watch really is top of the range and actually won the Gadget Show Award this year (2009) beating rivals like Polar and Nike! It is a watch preferred and used by many top athletes, premiership football clubs and serious runners. But the beauty of it is that it can be used by an absolute novice.
One of our favourite features of the Garmin Forerunner 405CX Sports Watch is the Virtual Partner feature. You can go running and then next time run against your original time. This is displayed using two stick men on the screen and your job is to beat your previous run, like a virtual training partner pushing you along the way. Using this feature alone has shaved minutes of our lap times.
