About us

Mission statements are pointless. They are a group of words and objectives that companies rarely meet. So let's cut through all the corporate rubbish...

We will try our best, we may not always get it right and if we don't expect an apology and the assurance that someone will be 'frantically' willing to put it right. We are not perfect but we are certainly striving to be.

The story so far...

In 2007 our founder, Scott Woodhead set up his first company following a car accident which could have cost him his life. It put things into perspective and he knew he had to go after his dreams of running his own business sooner rather than later. Soon after fitgencY Recruitment was launched which in his own words "failed miserably". The market in recruitment was tough but he lean't some valuable lessons which he'd rather now forget. And so the path led Scott to Loving Outdoors which was launched in 2009 and he hasn't looked back.

Since then the business has gone from strength to strength, the team has increased and we are now all working really hard to turn Loving Outdoors into an international brand; we have massive ambitions to smash the adventure and activities market! Part of what we try to do is add as much value as possible to the customer so that you can understand the product better, after all it's not the easiest thing choosing a product when there are often hundreds to compare.

in the summer 2010 we have re-launched the website to bridge the gap between social media and retail. We have further functionality being added daily which is very exciting. So why did we include the social media tools; lets face it there are few people in the world you can trust more than your friends; which is why we included them. We like to think of ourselves as the World's First Social Retailer but I am sure someone will come along soon and tell us otherwise.

Another great part of our recipe is having great relationships with our suppliers which is often overlooked in retail businesses. Scott knows, he used to work at Garmin and witnessed first hand how demanding and ruthless large retailers can be towards brands. Loving Outdoors takes a different approach, our suppliers are as important as our customers. After all without them we wouldn't have anything to sell and you wouldn't have anything to buy. Part of what we do is supply them with information from the website about product feedback which we hope they use to develop better products.

We do realise that there are some major players in our industry, but we also realise they have their flaws; hey, we only had to look at the review sites out there to realise!  We constantly monitor their flaws and turn them into our strengths. So that's us for now.

Thanks for reading and I hope you didn't fall to sleep
